Introductory Series

Here at Two Rivers Aikido:

We focus on principles of healthy embodiment, depth of technique, and generous psycho-social-emotional-spiritual aspects of the art through a multi-directional, life affirming, generative, and cooperative lens. We recognize genuine study, lived out in how we live our life, to be the heart of the art.

We practice from a relationally relevant principles-based perspective that is in alignment with our modernity and in congruence with our culture. We study in contemporary language and movement, free from dogma, ideology, and rank driven systems. We recognize that Aikido is a study and practice of a soft art based in relevant martial theory rooted in the heart of everyday life more than it is a martial system of self-defense.

We are committed to the practice of Aikido within a harmonic network of shapes and patterns of movement that cultivate curiosity and engagement with mindfulness, flow of energy, self-control, humility, and dynamic perspectives of positive transformation within self, other, and community.

"For one human being to love another, that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation.

—Ranier Maria Rilke
